GP & ANP Palliative Care Tier 2 Sessions 2024

Please see attached poster regarding DHU educational sessions that are open to all, free of charge. They are all at Tier 2.

Sessions are from 6:30-8:00pm

A brief synopsis of the sessions is below.

7 February 2024 - From initial call to home visit (OOH pathway) plus writing handwritten prescriptions and directives - a reminder of the pathway from 111 call to home visit for EOLC, including writing directives and prescribing opiate drugs
13 March 2024 - Pain management - conversion charts - a brief overview of the principles of pain management and prescribing in practice
10 April 2024 - Difficult conversations - having open and honest conversations around EOLC is essential, but isn't always easy. This session provides a few tips for practice
22 May 2024 - Respect/ACP/SCR - Advance planning is essential in palliative and EOLC in order to provide person-centred care and practice. This session will consider how to obtain this information and how to use it effectively, including what to do when nothing is in place
19 June 2024- Nausea and Vomiting - a short guide to managing nausea and vomiting in community
10 July 2024 - Other common symptoms at EOL - this session looks at other common symptoms found in palliative and EOLC and provides guidance on how to manage them effectively.
